HUMAN SETTLEMENTS, ENGINEERING & TRANSPORT CLUSTER
With over fifty percent of the world’s population residing in cities, increased urbanization has profoundly impacted on the city fabric, community livelihoods, economies, urban spaces, and the natural environment. It is therefore the intention of this Cluster to ensure that the alignment of the Cluster’s functions and programmes within its Units responds to the complexities of the City and achieves the sustainable development agenda.
This Cluster is a significant backbone and a point of strategic attention in respect of the economic and social and spatial strategies through its implementation of Plan 3 of the City’s IDP. The leadership intent is to integrate, promote and communicate the objectives with key stakeholders so that there is a clear understanding of the direction of the HSET Cluster and in reciprocity, the needs of communities that are serviced by this Cluster as well as the areas of integration with its parallel municipal departments.
