The City’s Environmental Health Practitioners from the North 6 Office have served a Notice of Prohibition to a shawarma shop in the oThongathi Central Business District after it was found to be in serious violation of food safety regulations during a routine inspection.

The inspection found:

▪️ Unhygienic conditions

▪️ Structural damage and broken equipment

▪️ Improper food handling practices,

Under Regulation 638 of the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics, and Disinfectants Act, the shop was ordered to close immediately. It will remain shut until all issues are resolved and the premises are compliant with health and safety standards.
