More Time To Submit RIA Forms – But Don’t Delay
The deadline for submitting Revenue Information Assessment (RIA) documents has been extended to 31 July. Pud Maharaj, of the Revenue Management Unit, praised residents who have already submitted and urged others to do so before the deadline. “Thank you to those who have complied and submitted their RIA documents. It is in the best interests of customers to send their documents to us.” Maharaj said disconnecting the services of residents who failed to submit (RIA) documents remained an option. “According to the Municipal Finance Management Act, we are allowed to disconnect services of customers who do not follow due processes. We urge all customers to comply.” He said forms must be filled in correctly and submitted with copies of either an ID, driver’s licence or passport. Louis Kruger, Head of Expenditure, said, “If you have submitted your form, we are in the process of providing correspondence by SMS, email or messages that will appear on this month’s utility bill to confirm whether your RIA form has been received.

“Customers who have partially completed the form will be contacted by call centre agents on behalf of the Municipality requesting the missing information.” “If the information on the form is incorrect, please write the correct, updated information next to it. Complete all shaded areas on the form and ensure that the domicilium section is completed.” Customers can submit the RIA forms to any eThekwini Customer service centre, post to PO Box 957, Mount Edgecombe, 4300, fax to 031 328 1101, e-mail to info@durbancustomer.co.za  or visit www.durban.gov.za  and submit online.
